I met Tony Lowe many years ago (around the time of Live Aid) through English weekly New Musical Express (NME). When his vision for song “The Fisherman" - the first ditty I ever sent him - landed back (incidentally from a Starfish label) on the doorstep in Manchester, I was hooked. Tony Lowe takes to music like a duck to water. Prolific Composer, and Producer - playing keyboard since age five and guitar since age ten. With the talent, skills and a wealth of experience, it is not too hard to believe then, that he works mighty wonders in the studio.

Our first recording session was at his Brixton studio. I recall one track was 'Ophelia' and another 'Time to Fly'. We soon cut enough demos to send out to industry.

Many A&R folk showed interest in our growing body of material, including Dave Massey, then at Chrysalis Records (later Hit and Run), who particularly adhered to our sound. Working separately with different approaches, a track took-on its own identity and in turn was felt to have became stronger. I remember a group of us walking around the Publisher-giants locale one evening and feeling butterflies of excitement for all the interest and curiosity that was coming our way.

In 1995 I moved to the United States - a move that coincided with the arrival of the world wide web. Looking back, I'd say we joined the pioneers working over the internet.

While sharing ideas for new musical projects, I realized not only is Tony a musical mentor (to me), he is also a teacher particularly in relation to spiritual and humanitarian issues. His dedication is the driving force behind the groundbreaking concept album, ‘All of the Above’ that has born a CD, a live band, a stage showcase, a story, a skeleton movie script with project-concept that was touted around Hollywood, LA; and a plethora of positive reviews.

In 2007 'All of the Above' made it onto the first ballot of the Grammy Lists, in eight categories including Album of the Year, Best rock song for 'Fires keep burning' and Song of the year for ‘Blue like the sky'. The darkly mystical and a pure sequel to ‘All of The Above' is second album 'Second Nature' that also made it onto the Grammy Lists, in six categories, in 2008. Twice in two years, an uncommon achievement for independent artists.

On 25th October 2008 'All of the Above' was performed in London to rave reviews and money donated for charity 'Bollocks to Poverty'. Tony and I on vocals, Tony on electric guitar (and programming), Poppy Gonzalez on keyboard, percussion and backing vocals, Steve Gee on bass and Julian Stapley on drums. Mixing Engineer, Gareth Redfarn.

For third album 'Human Sleeping' I had the great pleasure fly to the UK and spend an idyllic couple of weeks recording at TLP studios in beautiful Dorset; and on photo/video shoot with Tony’s American partner Cheryl Stringall co-creater and MD of their label Sunn Creative - Cheryl who incidentally is also a gifted painter and writer. When you listen to the album I think you can feel the warmth and focus of that creative environment. The daffodils were nodding, sun was shining, we had tea breaks it was full-on in the nicest possible way. 'Human Sleeping' released on the Sunn Creative label, on 1st July 2014.

More recently Sunn Creative presented the noteworthy symphonic, progressive rock album, 'ESP -Invisible Din', a Tony Lowe collaboration with (Big Country) drummer Mark Brzezicki - and Special guests. I was honoured to contribute some lyrics, and some backing vocals as ‘the voice of the ghost’. It launched in London UK on 11th November 2016 (11/11/16) presented by the duo with iconic musicians David Cross (King Crimson) and David Jackson (Van der Graaf Generator) and other hugely prominent artists. Altogether eleven 11 artist-contributors for this album. Inviting you to check out the link ESP - Invisible Din. .

Tony's official website shares his solo albums, collaborations, production credits, discography and more. To whet your appetite as it were, he spent many years touring as a lead guitarist for the popular French artist Julian Clerc; has worked in studio with household names including The Pet Shop Boys, Julian Lennon, Toyah; and is a member of and co-producer with the Simon Townshend Band. He produced alternative-folk artists Chris Gray and Pat Orchard and produces fresh and upcoming artists over a variety of musical genres.
